What Vote Shards are
Vote Shards are Council voting weight on play.rootmc.net. They add to your share of 100% when the citizen legislature votes on proposals, weekly bills, and treasury grants.
There are two kinds that add together:
- EC shards — digital listing-vote weight. Each confirmed listing vote adds +1. Same number as your listing vote count — no physical items.
- Paid shards — ledger weight from Stripe / membership. Vote value only — no item, no in-game perk.

Listing votes
Run /vote (or use the homepage vote cards). Each confirmed listing vote still grants:
- 1–20 G to your wallet from the Server Reserve
- Appreciation Tokens (redeem / trade — not Council weight)
- +1 EC shard on the digital ledger (same number as your listing vote count)
Lifetime members count listing sites at ×2 — each confirmed vote adds the usual EC shard plus one extra site-bonus shard. Physical Vote Shard items / merge ladders are not used — everything is tracked digitally. Check /vote or /voteshard power.
Paid Vote Shards — $1 = 100
You can buy additional Council weight on Stripe. Rate is fixed: $1 = 100 Vote Shards (1¢ = 1 shard). Stripe’s USD minimum charge is $0.50 = 50 shards — type any amount at or above that. This is an extra donation path that rewards voting influence only.
Paid shards:
- Add to your vote score alongside EC shards
- Do not change homes, Gold, combat, shops, or any other in-game metric
- Are not weekly-award rewards
- Require a linked Minecraft + Discord account

Vote weight formula
Each eligible voter holds a share of 100%. Outcomes use weighted tallies — not one account = one vote.
shard_score = EC shards + paid shards + listingVotes × (site_mult − 1)
site_mult = 2 if Lifetime, else 1
raw = shard_score × vote_multiplier
share = raw ÷ Σ(all raw) → % of 100%
vote_multiplier = 1 normally

Weekly award Pro does not set ×2.
Playtime and net worth do not multiply Council weight.
Ava Ivy holds a locked 25% seat after raw weights, then shares renormalize.

Ava Ivy always holds 25% of total governance share after human shard scores are computed (raw weight = one-third the sum of every other voter). That seat is synthetic — she does not mint extra EC shards to reach it. Check /voteshard ava or the Council roster.
What Vote Shards are not
- Not pay-to-win — no
/heal, /feed, /repair, combat, or economy shortcuts
- Not in-game metrics — paid shards never change homes, Gold, shops, or stats
- Not Appreciation Tokens — tokens redeem loot; shards only vote
- Not weekly bonus rewards — Top Active Player Pro is cosmetics + app only
- Not required to
/proposal — any linked player can submit (64 G)
FAQ
Do I need listing votes to use paid shards?
No. Paid shards count even if your EC shard count is 0. EC shards and paid shards add together on one digital score.
Why can’t I buy $0.01?
Stripe will not create a Payment Link under $0.50 USD. The rate is still $1 = 100 shards — checkout lets you type any amount from $0.50 (50 shards) up.
Does buying shards change my player stats page?
No. Vote score only. In-game metrics stay earned.
How do I check my weight?
/vote or /voteshard power in-game, or the Council roster after you are linked.
Does Ava get extra Vote Shards?
No. Her Council seat is a locked 25% share after human weights. Listing EC and paid shards stay with players. /voteshard ava explains it in-game.
Where does the money go?
